Strategic communications, crisis management, and public affairs for leaders who can’t afford to get it wrong.
Some situations call for a press release. Others call for someone who’s been in the room when the pressure is real and the margin for error is zero.
Botnick Consulting Group advises executives, public officials, law firms, and organizations through high-stakes communications challenges — where reputation, relationships, and outcomes are all on the line at once. Every engagement is different. The approach doesn’t change: clear thinking, honest advice, and a focus on what actually moves the needle.
Mark Botnick has spent the better part of two decades at the intersection of communications, politics, and high-stakes decision-making. He built his career inside New York City Hall, spending years as a senior aide to Mayor Mike Bloomberg through two mayoral campaigns and deep into the administration itself — tracking the administration’s commitments, working on major policy fights including pension reform and marriage equality in New York, and running Ed Koch’s final political campaign, New York Uprising, a statewide effort to reform a corruption-riddled Albany, work that earned him a 40 Under 40 honor from City & State New York. From there, he moved into the corporate world as Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs at First Data Corporation, helping lead the company through its 2015 IPO, and later joined Bloomberg’s 2020 presidential campaign before launching his own practice — advising business and philanthropic leaders across multiple countries and continents.
More recently, Mark served as spokesperson for the defense in one of the most closely watched legal proceedings in recent memory, and has since lectured on litigation communications at universities in the U.S. and at the Sorbonne in Paris. Today, he works with C-suite executives, public officials, and organizations that need clear thinking and sound counsel when the stakes are high.
Messaging strategy, narrative development, and communications planning for organizations that need to control the story before someone else does.
When things go wrong fast, the first hours matter most. Rapid response counsel, message development, and stakeholder management for high-pressure situations.
Navigating the intersection of business, government, and public opinion. Legislative strategy, regulatory counsel, and coalition building for complex environments.
Building, protecting, and recovering reputational capital for executives, organizations, and public figures operating under scrutiny.
Every high-stakes situation is different. The first step is the same — a confidential conversation about what you're facing.
